Thanks for the memory

Thanks for the memory Of sentimental verse, Nothing in my purse, And chuckles When the preacher said For better or for worse, How lovely it was. Thanks for the memory Of Schubert's Serenade, Little things of jade And traffic jams And anagrams And bills we never paid, How lovely it was. We who could laugh over big things Were parted by only a slight thing. I wonder if we did the right thing, Oh, well, that's life, I guess, I love your dress. Thanks for the memory Of faults that you forgave, Of rainbows on a wave, And stockings in the basin When a fellow needs a shave, Thank you so much. Thanks for the memory Of tinkling temple bells, Alma mater yells And Cuban rum And towels from The very best hotels, Oh how lovely it was. (Stacey Kent lyrics)

Here comes the tears

Ella va morir fa unes setmanes. Tenia 91 anys.

No donava cap mena d'importància a aquestes andròmines tronades, ella ho hagués llençat tot.

She died about a month ago. She was 91. Lately we did'nt have so much contact, but when we saw each other it always was the same emotion amd complicity. She had been a grandma for me. In the hospital I held her hand for hours, I talk to her and she, that couldn't speak, was caressing my hand all the time. I was engrossed  looking at our hands: mine, white and young; hers, tanned and old, with a shaped-heart little wound. It was our (beautiful) way to say goodbye.

I have a lot of pictures of her. I have all that she showed me. The hours, the days, the years that we spent together. I also have her engagement ring, her first comunion headdress (theadbare...), and a corset that has belonged to her mother. She gave no importance to all those old junks, she would thowed all away. I don't know where the corset is, but I've kept the ring for a long time. With frivolity, it's my favourite vintage thing. Without frivolity, the ring passed from one hand to another without losing it's sacred meaning. I wore it for the first time in her funeral.
I got the intention not to talk about my private life in the blog but I gonna do an exception. But I don't want this post became a mourning book. I talk about her because it's like she was a little less dead.

There's a certain slant of light

There’s a certain slant of light,
On winter afternoons,
That oppresses, like the weight
Of cathedral tunes.

Heavenly hurt it gives us;
We can find no scar,
But internal difference
Where the meanings are.

None may teach it anything,
’T is the seal, despair,—
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the air.

When it comes, the landscape listens,
Shadows hold their breath;
When it goes, ’t is like the distance
On the look of death."
